Hey all, have nod32 on my laptop and am very happy with it. It is time to renew and I've decided to put it on my desktop as well. This is proving to be a bit challenging.
I've had my desktop for a few years and there is a bunch of crap on it. Before downloading nod32 should I...
Delete the following...
Norton and all of it's components, such as norton go back, live update etc.
Microsoft antispyware, is it safe and/or necessary to delete this?
Lavasoft Addaware, I don't even remembering downloading this, should I delete it?
Ok, I think that is all. I successfully and easily uninstalled webroot. That one was nice, a simple uninstall link!
Thank you, I appreciate the guidance. I've screwed things up in the past by deleting stuff. I just want this to work out, and maybe my desktop won't feel so bogged down.
Thanks again

..this not a particular question of mine and yet,

You could probably get by without deleteing anything, just turn it off, but some of these things have a way of being intrusive even if turned off.
Norton and its components. This is going to be a tough one. I had to download a tool from their web site to do this, and in order to get it you have to go through a captia verification thing. It sucks. Plus, I still have a couple of entries in my regestry but they don't seem to be doing any damage.
Lavasoft's AdAware. Shouldn't be a problem, but why not leave it there and run it occasionally. It's added protection.
Microsoft's antispyware. Sorry, I don't know about this one. However, Microsoft is pretty good about going away when you want them to.
Just my thoughts, and good luck. Let us know how it goes.

Notron sucks royally.
I would advise getting rid of it. Depending on which version you have it may not be easy.
My fiance had Norton on her computer for a while and was much happier with her computer after getting rid of it.
Her computer ran much faster, and n eedless to say she saved a lot of room.
If the fact that you may have to download something to remove a program doesn't raise red flags about how crappy norton is I don't know what will.
Nod43, mu much better.
Oh and I'd get rid of the other stuff as well.
When I removed an old Norton version that I had on my computer, I didn't need to download anything to do so. I just went to the add/remove programs, and it went away just fine.
Well, I went to the add/remove programs and successfully removed the 2006 Norton. AS far as the live update, it seems to be disabled, though it still exists. As well, as the Norton go back, that is still there.
Anyway, I have installed nod32 and all seems well so far...we'll see!
Thanks to everyone!
